The Current State of Global Affairs – What Every Business Needs to Know
CEO Perspectives and Northern Trust co-hosted a dinner and discussion on May 9th at Northern Trust in downtown Chicago. The event featured a conversation with Ivo Daalder, President of the Chicago Council of Global Affairs and CEO Perspectives Fellow, 2015, as he spoke about how geopolitical forces are shaping international economic policy and business decisions. Sheila Penrose, Co-Chairman of Corporate Leadership Center and Co-Founder of the CEO Perspectives program, moderated the discussion and participants had an opportunity to engage in the conversation.
Tom South, CIO, Northern Trust, and CEO Perspectives Fellow, 2021, made opening remarks on behalf of Northern Trust. More than 20 Fellows representing 11 cohorts attended the event, enabling members of the CEO Perspectives community to reconnect with former classmates, as well as expand their professional networks as part of the evening.
Reunion for the Classes of 2020 & 2021 – June 23, 2022
On June 23, 2022, alumni from the classes of 2020 and 2021 reunited for an interactive food and beverage event at Blue Plate in downtown Chicago. As a result of COVID, these two classes attended the majority of the CEO Perspectives program virtually, and were unable to come together for in-person modules. The evening was designed to provide attendees with an opportunity to reengage with members of their cohort, expand their strategic networks and enjoy some friendly class competitions.
2017 Reunion: Technology’s Impact: On Our Businesses…On Our World
More than 75 Fellows from all graduating classes joined at The Chicago Club to hear keynote speaker, Brian Krzanich, Chief Executive Officer, Intel, share his thoughts on data as the modern-day equivalent to oil, given its applications across domains of business and broader life, and how Intel is using technology and data to create business and social value.
Earlier in the day, James Stavridis, Dean of the Fletcher School of Tufts University; U.S. Navy Admiral (Retired); and NATO Supreme Allied Commander, 2009-2013, discussed broad challenges and opportunities related to security in the 21st century.
Additionally, a panel of senior executives, including William Bosway, President & CEO, Dover Refrigeration and Food Equipment, Dover Corporation; 2017 Fellow, Steven Chaouki, Executive Vice President, Financial Services, TransUnion; 2015 Fellow, and Sona Chawla, Chief Operating Officer, Kohl’s Department Stores; 2010 Fellow, spoke about the impact of technology on their businesses, which represent a range of sectors. The panel was moderated by Kunal Kapoor (CEO, Morningstar, Inc.; 2013 Fellow).
The Future of Cities
The program, focused on the reurbanization of cities, was held at McDonald’s Corporation in the West Loop. Prior to the program, attendees were invited to tour the new headquarters and enjoy a networking reception. Keynote speaker, Christian Beaudoin, Managing Director, Research, Strategy, Site Selection, JLL, explored recent trends in urbanization and the development of global cities, and then joined David Fairhurst, EVP, Chief People Officer, McDonald’s; CEO Perspectives Fellow, 2018, and Anne Pramaggiore, Senior EVP & CEO, Exelon Utilities, for a panel discussion.
